It was just before 9pm on Thursday and the mortals started to assemble for the weekly 9pm Thursday night bash (it's at 9pm on Thursdays, all welcome). Everyone was discussing bash tactics and making plans, which kit they should run for, what order the mobiles should die in. In the Land, the mobiles were also discussing tactics. With Royston and Folly in the tearoom the water-snakes and the bees were getting worried. Female dwarf 37 was her usual confident self, but the electric eel was sulking as he'd not been picked for the initial mob line up and he had to settle for a place on the bench. The apes skipped the pre-bash meeting.
Mortals and mobiles alike were wondering how the bash would go. Would it be a stand up fight, or another bug hunt?
Crazyfool the wizard appeared at 9pm to get the ball rolling and the 120 second countdown started. Which allows you to watch this video four times if you are so inclined.

The players list at the start was as follows:
Folly the necromancer
Pushover the sorcerer
Royston the superhero
Leon the necromancer
Osterbane the swordsman
This week I'll try not to bang on about killing mobiles, and just focus on the most exciting fights.
Ford across river.
A butterfly flutters by.
*k mo
You attack the butterfly.
*You hit the butterfly (10-14).
You have killed the butterfly.
(+10 = 42,301).
At some point someone asked why the banshee was armed with the dagger.
*A male voice in the distance shouts "i OSTERBANE had to flee from it, can i
have it back".
The banshee was dispatched and not long after the players were told to go to the hut and get ready to rumble. The only player to miss the pillar was Royston, who prefers to battle the mobiles on an even footing. A bit like that bloke in Predator who fights the Predator bare chested with only a knife. It's a matter of honour.
You hear the rumble of thunder.
You feel drenched with power...
Your stamina is 110.
*Osterbane the swordsman has stolen the dagger0 from Leon the necromancer.
After that, mobiles were killed. The usual stuff, kill mobiles and try not to die. Hopefully other people can fill in the details. I felt like a 'hit dwarfs with the pick' reset, so did that. Never get bored of hitting dwarfs with the pick.
The x7 series dwarfs teamed up but without success:
*The female dwarf37 misses you.
You hit the female dwarf37 (10-14).
The female dwarf37 looks close to death.
You hit the dwarf27 (10-14).
You have killed the dwarf27.
(+120 = 43,582).
A smallish, woodworm-riddled pickaxe has been dropped here.
The dwarf27 has just passed on.
*ql foe
The female dwarf37 looks close to death.
*g pick
Pick1 taken.
*The female dwarf37 misses you.
You hit the female dwarf37 (20-29).
You have killed the female dwarf37.
(+96 = 43,678).
The female dwarf37 has just passed on.
Leon arrived and we finished off the dwarfs. The Pagoda still hadn't opened. I noticed that The ?don't tell him your name? Pike was still alive, so went to kill that. The surviving mobs numbered 25.
I found Osterbane fighting sealife, joined Leon killing the shark, Pushover killed the boar, Royston killed the mobiles of the north mountain and the evil twins died. The ghoul died, as did dwarf19, who probably should have stayed wherever he had been hiding.
I believe Royston killed the Marmot and I found that the spider was still alive. The bash was turning into a bug hunt. I grabbed a phial just in case spiders are poisonous.
The last five mobiles were the pony, the stag, the piglet, the golem and the wolf. The mobiles, in their desperation, then decided to send the eel into play, but the mortals brought on Kazoo who was more than a match for this fight. The eel lost. Leon killed the golem, the sv count hit zero and everyone got the 3k bonus.
The Pagoda mobs then tried to join in, but not until after the 3k had already been won. Ape0 said ?sorry, we forgot it was a Thursday, we've been watching Lord of the Rings on Film4?. The Phoenix declined to comment.

Thank you Folly. A very tidy and amusing account.
Can I just add for the sake of the record......
It wasn't me up the North Mountain this time. I could not get my hands on anything that would get me back down. Someone else shouted that they had killed the marmot so it must have been them.
I am not old enough to be a Countdown fan.

I was wondering if there was some joke about the Pike I wasn't aware of. I don't get the 'Don't tell me your name' line.

I keep forgetting that there are people who play who are not in the UK and won't be aware of British tv shows.
For information only, here's a clip from countdown:
