For those of you who do not follow Qblog, Richard is appearing on University Challenge on Wednesday 23rd Dec. at 8pm on BBC2. Personally I find it a challenge to spell 'challenge'.

It's got to be better than EastEnders.

I enjoyed that, well done Richard.

(was anyone else shouting "Malware!" at their televisions?)

I enjoyed that. So much for their goal 'not to end with a negative score'.

Yes I shouted MALWARE. But it made no difference as to who won.

Having romped home with victory over an Oxbridge college, I was looking forward to watching Essex perform in the next round. But they were never to be seen again. Richard explained in his blog that they did not achieve a high enough score to qualify. I gather from this that they had more than eight teams (perhaps 10 or 12) in the first round and simply picked the four teams with the highest score to go into the semi-finals.

It seems a poor sort of competition where you can win your round and sink like a stone. Still, as Richard remarked, they come out of it undefeated.
