Next Thursday (20th December) instead of a mobile bash there will be a Christmas Event! This will be a sorcerer war with some added Christmas-themed items.
The sorcerer war will start at 9pm and is open to everyone, just bring along a novice persona and you will be turned into a sorcerer! There will also be re-sorcerisation. Further details to follow.
There will also be prizes! The first prize will be ?30 worth of HMV vouchers (or an equivalent to a non-UK winner). The two runners up will receive some Christmas-themed chocolate!

I have a suggestion, based on something which really bothered me at the last sorc war.
As well as the standard 1 point for a kill, you should get -1 point for dying.
It seems very unfair that its possible to win simply by bringing in wave after wave of sorcerer, and even self-fodding just to get back to full stam instead of sleeping.
If you lose a point each time you die, it will encourage people to try to play skillfully.

Don't worry, it won't be the same format as the last sorcerer war. That one was just for fun. As there are prizes at stake for this one winning will involve a bit more skill. That is not to say that that you can't join in just for fun too!
I'll post more details over the weekend.

Armnad
When you die in a sorc war and get resorcerised, your kill count reverts to zero. Only continuous kill totals were used IIRC.
You may not have noticed as you didn't die enough!

Hmm I didn't realise that. I thought the guy whose score was higher than mine for most of the war had died a few times.

But in any case, having -1 for a death would allow your score to go negative. Resetting to zero doesn't really mean anything if you're already on zero. You end up attacking someone on zero, and they try to FOD you (with nothing to lose) and you get cheated of a kill, and they get a fully stammed new sorc to retry
That happened to me quite a few times.
EDIT:
Looking at the log, there were 6 FOD attempts on me (3x more than anyone else). I wasn't very popular! hehe

I didn't mean it to be taken that way.
It was just a suggestion.
Run the sorc war however you want

Rules for the sorcerer war:
- The player with the highest score at the end of the event will win.
Points can be gained by killing other players or from their flees. You lose points if you flee yourself. If you quit the game your score will be reset to zero. High treasure swamping will be discouraged.
- Re-sorcerisation will last for 45 minutes, after this time you will not be able to re-enter the event. You will get fair warning when this deadline is approaching.
- FODding will be not be allowed during this event.
The winner of the event will win ?30 worth of HMV e-vouchers (or equivalent for a non-uk winner). The two runners up will receive a box of Hotel Chocolat Christmas chocolates.
Good luck and see you on Thursday at 9pm game time!

Please note that a delay in re-sorcerisation may be used if players are found to be quitting in order to regain points.
