Right as I'm sure we're all aware mud's been pretty dead recently . So I thought it might be a good idea if we did some brainstorming on how to get people playing the game....
Lets here some ideas people.

I know there were some ideas in the mix concerning getting our mud listed on a mud connector but not sure whats happening with this. I will ask the powers that be and get back to you.

I have been trying to recruit members of my family without much success.
I have also started putting the odd thing on facebook including a link to the Bash write-ups. I will have to stop using MUD jargon so that people outside the game will understand.
But I think I am preaching to the converted.

Having done campaigns a few times for MUD1 on mudconnect.com and topmudsites.com I can say that they are effective if a few people can be persuaded to vote every day. You'll start seeing occasional results on topmudsites.com once you get into the top 20 because those appear on the homepage. Ideally it would be nice to get into the top 5 but then you're competing with games like Achaea and Aardwolf which I've heard employ dishonest techniques such as giving in-game rewards for votes. If you look at the "In" column on that site, that tells you how many votes that game has had in the most recent period and gives you an idea of what we'd need to achieve. The votes reset every 15 days.
I'm not as familiar with mudconnect.com voting and effectiveness.

I could post a link on an enormous car related forum that I frequent which has a computer game area.
Just a title and the link. But it could attract some weirdos.

What about the idea of Mystics? Might be more fun to offer people who aren't into pking a way to Wiz also?

I have played some other muds, the first thing i noticed when playing them was that upon creating a persona you enter a training area like a MUDSCHOOL where you learn the basic commands of the game and solve mini puzzles in order to graduate and leave with a few levels gained and some starter weapons. Maybe a newbie area could help newbies coming over to use from other muds, just an idea.
