BASH REPORT FOR THURSDAY 3RD FEBRUARY 2011

The best way of describing last night?s bash would be to call it a pigging disaster. It?s a shame really because there have been a number of really enjoyable and successful impromptu bashes during the week.

It was not, for once, due to the small number of players. There were enough on to open up both the Pagoda and the Giants?. That was one of the problems. Both areas need a co-operative team and there was no team-leader elected. No Bash-General. This resulted in some great but suicidal forays against the Giants
The obit says it all:
*obit
The following players have died in fights this reset:
Robby the protector, killed by the giant (twice),
Royston the dragon-slaying necromancer, killed by the giant,
Robby the swordsman, killed by the giant,
Mrsorc the sorcerer, killed by the giant,
Robby the hero, killed by the thief and the banshee.

It was the same Giant each time.

Towards the end when it seemed hopeless everyone retired to the Tearoom moaning and at the reset there were 123 mobiles left. That must be a record.

Taking the trip to Dragon Island from the Vicious Rocks the first two and the last two directions are always the same. It is only the middle two that change and these can be each - any one of three directions. So unless you know the route there is only one chance in nine of getting it right. These were odds I was not prepared to take when I found the chart in the Captain?s Cabin missing. I can never see the point of doing anything detrimental to another player unless you benefit yourself. The only reason for removing the chart is to make it more difficult for the rest of us and during a bash it amounts to sabotage. I realise that no rules of the game were broken but to hide essential items just because someone else is doing what you had planned to do, is plain bad sportsmanship. Here is a copy of the ensuing conversation. I have no idea who the other player was:

Captain's cabin.
An inky quill has been left here. There is a burning fire brand here. The
log of Captain Kate is here!
*wh chart
Your spell doesn't find any.
*wh chart
Your spell doesn't find any.
*The lit brand42 burns away to nothingness.
*sh who's got the chart?
You shout "who's got the chart?".
*A female voice in the distance shouts "Radio 1 ??".
*"Very funny. WHY move it?
Royston the necromancer asks "Very funny. WHY move it?".
Because you can't see anyone else here, it may be that you are speaking to
yourself...
*A male voice in the distance shouts "was swamped when the thief attacked
and noone helpd".
*sh There is never any reason to move it. Why not leave it where it is?
You shout "There is never any reason to move it. Why not leave it where it
is?".
*A male voice in the distance shouts "because other people could read it".
*A male voice in the distance shouts "and they have no need to".
*sh how very childish
You shout "how very childish".
*A male voice in the distance shouts "very".
*A female voice in the distance shouts "they do when you dont do what is
neeed".
*wh fairyring
I can't tell you where to find a fairy ring, you'll just have to look around.
*A male voice in the distance shouts "should have bloody helped when i asked
then".
*sh cant help when already fighting you bimbo
You shout "cant help when already fighting you bimbo".
*A female voice in the distance shouts "ok ok come on guys".
*A female voice in the distance shouts "in a scouse voice calm down calm
down".
*wish any chance of a chart please?
Your wish drifts across the ether, but the power of the spell you have
invoked causes you to fall into a deep slumber...

So not content with running off with the Chart, this player loses it in the swamp when fleeing from a mobile. Then complains because no one had come to his aid. Unless they are actually in a fight or doing some serious stamming up, most players would answer such a call without hesitation.

I have to be careful in too much criticism because we are beginning to see the personality of the player behind the persona and it might indeed be an eight year old child. The line ?because other people could read it? says it all.

I am so sorry Blib. I apologise. I know how much you enjoy finding these things out for yourself. But it is difficult to write this stuff without sometimes letting something like this slip out.

I was silly to get angry over this business and even sillier to show it. That is all this particular player wanted and, in his deviousness, he has won. This is after all a game. But it is very annoying when idiots have the sole object in wrecking the game for others. Again I have to be careful in what I say as he might, to use modern euphemisms, have learning difficulties or be socially challenged in real life.

Sounds like a Wireplay bash. Did you also get people shouting during Icons?

He probably just wanted the isle to himself, bashes can be a good (and safe) source of points.

He should have killed the dragon himself then. But I had the means. Had he asked for it I would willingly have given the stuff to him.

The dragon and I do not see eye to eye and the less often we meet up the better.
